NIMS

NIMS - National Incident Management Systems

NIMS provides a set of national standards that ensures federal, state, tribal and local government as well as private and nongovernmental organizations work together effectively in an emergency. NIMS creates coordination in preparing for, prevention of, responding to and recovery from an incident.

NIMS benefits include a unified approach to incident management; standard command and management structures; and emphasis on preparedness, mutual aid and resource management.

The six components of NIMS:

  • Command and Management, including ICS
  • Preparedness Resource Management
  • Communications and Information Management
  • Supporting Technologies
  • NIMS Management and Maintenance

Site administrators and other designated school safety team staff are required to complete two NIMS courses. Please go to the FEMA website Click on NIMS. Then click on NIMS training. Then scroll down and click on courses IS-100.b- Introduction to NIMS and IS-100.SCa Introduction to NIMS in schools. Please complete both online courses and when you print the certificates please send a copy to Tudy Wicks in the security department.
